Dad Is Expecting Too

A Site For Expectant Fathers

Having a baby is typically a female-dominated experience. Marketing departments go to great lengths to promote their products in ways that appeal to the expectant mother. The other half of the baby equation, the expectant father, is treated somewhat as an afterthought. Granted, mom IS going through a great deal as evidenced by her changing figure and moods not to mention the actual delivery, but that doesn’t mean that dad isn’t also feeling the need for information, pointers and good old-fashioned advice during this tumultuous time. Site owner, Nada Arnot realized this when she was expecting her first baby and TheFunkyStork.com was born (no pun intended.)

The Funky Stork is geared to meet the needs of first time dads, single dads and simply new dads (as in a new child has joined the family). It offers information to guide men through pregnancy in a style and format that appeals to the guys. The site’s logo echoes the look and feel of the Lamborghini shield but instead of the charging bull there is a stork in flight. The whole site is designed with the feel of a slick car magazine with nary a frill, bow or cutesy animal to be found. All the images of fathers are contemporary men who exude macho/sensitive/enlightened maleness.

The categories on The Funky Stork range from Pregnancy 101 (the basics) to Dads to Be, New Dads, Tips and Tools and Pregnancy Alerts. Topics cover the spectrum of things that the male animal needs and wants to know, such as how to make the transition to fatherhood and family in the article titled “From DINK to Dad” (Double Income No Kids), relationship questions that trouble the masculine mind (i.e. romance, sex before and after the baby and whether or not his wife/partner really hates him.) There are unique articles on being a dad to multiples, throwing a baby shower for an expectant father and even how to date as a single dad.

The tools on the site will make the expectant mom chuckle but may well be a lifesaver for the dad-to-be. There are cheat sheets on the trimesters, how to change a diaper and how to baby-proof the home. The guides include prenatal massage, yoga, Pilates and diet and nutrition (for both partners because the weight gain comes to both parties!) Our favorite tools were the checklists for pregnancy and baby. These included a house cleaning list, hospital kit (what to pack), what to buy the baby and immunizations for baby. The first two lists made us smile while the second two are important to the health and well-being of both baby and his or her parents.

The Funky Stork is loaded with solid information, packaged and presented with the expectant dad’s needs and style in mind. It’s impossible to cover the scope of knowledge and advice offered on the site within the length constraints of this article. At TopTenREVIEWS, We Do the Research So You Don’t Have To™ and we highly recommend you (and your spouse/partner) spend some time exploring this great site. It will be well worth it, guaranteed.
